Who we are

From its beginnings as a movie house, the Owen has evolved into a vibrant hub for live performances, films, and community events. For over eight decades, it has been a place where stories are told, memories are made, and the arts are celebrated. Through changing times, the Owen has remained a constant, thanks to the dedication of countless volunteers and the unwavering support of our community.

The Seymour Area Arts Council is a passionate group of volunteers dedicated to preserving and enriching the cultural landscape of Seymour and the surrounding Ozarks region. We believe in the transformative power of the arts and strive to make them accessible to everyone. From theatrical productions and musical performances to film screenings and educational programs, we work tirelessly to bring diverse and engaging experiences to our stage.

At the Owen, we're about more than just entertainment. We're about building community, fostering creativity, and preserving our shared heritage. We believe that the arts have the power to connect us, inspire us, and enrich our lives. We're committed to:

  • Preserving History: Ensuring the Historic Owen Theatre remains a cherished landmark for generations to come.

  • Promoting the Arts: Providing a platform for local talent and bringing diverse artistic experiences to our community.

  • Engaging the Community: Creating inclusive and accessible programs that bring people together.

  • Fostering Creativity: Encouraging artistic expression and supporting the development of local artists.

We invite you to join us in celebrating the magic of the Owen. Whether you're a lifelong resident, a visitor from afar, or a budding artist, there's a place for you in our story.
